Mae Hatton, 93 of Hope died Tuesday October 28, 2008 at her home. She was the former owner of an antique shop and bowling alley in Hope. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Hope and a former member of Royal Neighbors of America and Eastern Star. She loved to read and crochet. She raised birds and rabbits for many years. A memorial service will be held on Saturday November 1 at 2:00 pm at Norman Funeral Home in Hope. Rev. Mark Walker will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 12:00 - 2:00 at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date at Hope Moravian Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be donated to Hospice of South Central Indiana or First Baptist Church of Hope. Born on September 9, 1915 in Hope, IN, Mae was the daughter of Christopher "Lum" and Mary Brannen Herron. She married Carl R. Hatton July 3, 1937 and he preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 1982. Survivors include a daughter, Debbie(Harold) Sims of Hope; nieces, Patty(Marty) Croddy/Norman of Milford and Mickey Thayer of Columbus; grandchildren, Ronaca(Ken) Guffey and Darin Sims of Hope; great grandchildren, Taryn and Blaine Sims of Nashville, Cory Sampson of Hope, Cassandra(Antoine) Absher of Columbus and Cambria Sims of Florida and a great-great grandchild, Taylen Absher of Columbus. Mae was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a brother Robert Herron.
