Obituary

Marion Joseph "Andy" Anderson, 85 of Hope died at 8:55 p.m. Saturday March 19, 2011 at Miller's Merry Manor in Hope.
Mr. Anderson had worked at Cosco in Columbus for many years and had retired in 1989. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hope where he served as deacon,sunday school teacher, youth director and financial secretary.
Mr. Anderson along with his wife , Mary worked with Gideons International for almost 50 years and spoke at many churches in the area. He was a 50 year member and past master of Hope Masonic Lodge. Marion served on the Flatrock-Hawcreek School Board where he also drove a school bus. He also served on the Blue River Vocational Technical School Board. He had served as president of the former Hope Jaycees and had served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He enjoyed woodworking and made many things for his relatives and friends from lumber cut from his own trees.
Calling hours will be Wednesday at Norman Funeral Home in Hope from 4 to 8 p.m with a Masonic memorial service to follow at 8:00 p.m. Additional calling will be on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ransdell Funeral Home in Harrodsburg, Ky with a funeral service on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Burial with military graveside rites will be in Ebenezer, KY.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International Bibles.
Born in Lexington, KY, September 16, 1925, Mr. Anderson was the son of W. R. and Minnie Bell Thompson Anderson. He married Mary Florence Shuck July 10, 1946 and she survives.
Other survivors include sons James Richard (Cheryl) Anderson of Highbridge,N.J., William K (Dianna) Anderson of Springhill, FL. and Michael (Penny) Anderson of Hope; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; brothers William Garnett Anderson of Columbus, Eugene Anderson of Logansport, Cape Anderson of Lexington, KY; and a sister Dorothy Anderson of Lawrenceburg, KY.
Marion was preceded in death by a brother Carl Anderson and sisters Bonnie and Irene Anderson.
