Marvin J. Tallent, 72 of Hope, went home to be with the Lord Thursday March 5, 2009 at 10:52 pm at Hospice of South Central IN. He was retired from Golden Castings as a foundry worker. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hope for 30 years and the First Baptist Church of Hartsville for 2 years. Marvin served the Lord as an ordained deacon as long as his health allowed. He loved gardening, watching and coaching baseball at Hope Summer Playground and especially spending time with his grandchildren. The funeral will be on Tuesday at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Hope with Tim Tallent and Rodney Smith officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:30 - 8:30 pm at Norman Funeral Home in Hope. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery. Memorials may be donated to the First Baptist Church of Hartsville Building Fund. Born on February 23, 1937 in Clinton County, Ky., Marvin was the son of Aaron and Lura L. Burchett Tallent. He graduated from Clinton County High School and was a member of the Kentucky National Guard. He married Jennetta Sells on August 29, 1961 in Clay County, TN. He is survived by his wife Jennetta; sons, Marty(Julie) and Dan(Jackie) Tallent of Hope and Tim(Chris) Tallent of Columbus; grandchildren, Marita, Holley, Sydney, and Avery Tallent, all of Hope and Adrianne Tallent of Columbus; a great grandson, Josiah Dyer of Hope and siblings, F.M., Don and Ronnie Dale Tallent, Barbara Mee, and Ella Smith. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Aaron D. Tallent.
