Max Elliott, 80 of Hope passed away Sunday June 29, 2008 at 10:15 am at his home.
He owned and operated Max's Marathon for over 25 years and was currently a part time employee of Norman Funeral Home.
He attended Hope United Methodist Church and served in the Navy for four years.
He was an avid Nascar fan and took pride in maintaining his yard and flowers.
The funeral will be conducted Thursday July 3 at 11:00 am at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with the Revs. Gerald Hancock and Marianne Hawkins officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-9:00 pm on Wed. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus.

Born May 25, 1928 in Lebanon, IN, Max was the son of Lee R. and Jeannette Keeley Elliott. He graduated from Jackson Township High School in Decatur County. He married Jean Elliott October 18, 1953 at Clifford United Methodist Church and she preceded him in death on November 26, 2005.
Survivors include; children, Tom Elliott of Columbus, Suzie(John) Norman of Hope, and Rob(Debbie) Elliott of Austin; grandchildren, Katie(Stewart) Messum of England, Brett Elliott of Louisville, Andy Norman of Chicago, Ashley Norman of Hope, Amber(Brent) Moore of Seymour and Beanna and Taylor Elliott of Austin; a sister, Berna Dean(Gaston) Eddelman of Westport and a companion, Mary Grace Miller of Hope.
Max was preceded in death by, his wife, his parents; a daughter, Carol Sue Elliott; a brother, Eugene Elliott and a sister, Evelyn Hill.
