Melvin Joseph Gearhart of Hope, Indiana, went home to Jesus Saturday, July 6, 2019, at age 63.
Melvin, known to his family and friends as "Joe" was an active member of Faith Chapel, where he enjoyed playing as one of the church musicians.
Joe worked at Mig Enterprise for 13 years and lived a simple life. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, gathering with family and friends, and playing music.
Born on September, 24, 1955, Joe was the son of Melvin and Maxine Keller Gearhart. He married Shila Smith on December 31, 1994.
Joe has joined his parents in heaven. He is survived by his wife Shila, of Hope; his children, Joseph (fiancée, Cindy) Gearhart of Connorsville, Michael (Tracy) DeShong of North Vernon, and Samantha DeShong of North Vernon; and six grandchildren, MiKayln, Gage, Angelina, Liberty, Matthew, and Kyle.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 12 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home with Pastor David Bragg officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hawcreek Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Faith Chapel or to help with funeral expenses.
