Obituary

Morris L. Staggs, 72, of Hope, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Mr. Staggs retired from Golden Foundry and was a member of St. Louis Crossing Baptist Church. He had served in the U. S. Army and loved hunting, fishing and painting.

The funeral will be conducted Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Rev. Marvin Arnett officiating. Calling will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial with military graveside rites will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery west of Clifford.

Born in Columbus on July 21, 1940, Mr. Staggs was the son of James Howard and Flossie Spurgeon Staggs. He married Marcella Ellinger April 2, 1960, and she survives.

Other survivors include his children, April Adams of Flat Rock, Dwayne Staggs of Hope and William (wife Kandace) Staggs of Columbus; grandchildren, Dillon and Devon Adams and Darryl Adams-Weddle, Lucas, Josiah and Ethan Staggs; a great-grandson, Gregory Evans; siblings, Betty Acton, Alberta (husband Ralph) Barlow and Carolyn (husband Ronnie) Hudson, all of Columbus, Cloris (husband Bob) Hook of Elizabethown, Ronnie (wife Judy) Staggs of Westport, Marilyn (husband Jarold) Rush of Bedford, Steven (wife Kathy) Staggs and Terry Staggs, both of Seymour.

Mr. Staggs was preceded in death by siblings, Doris Noel and Harold, Billy and Paul Staggs.
