Retta R. Allen, 90, of Hope, passed away on Saturday June 21, 2025 at Silver Oaks Health Campus.

Born on December 22, 1934 at home in Clinton, IN, Retta was the daughter of Walter S. and Geneva Carty Gilman. She married Forrest H. Allen on October 14, 1951, and he preceded her in death on December 8, 2005.

Retta enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading, and being with her family. Retta also enjoyed feeding and watching hummingbirds.

Survivors include children, Douglas (Atsuko) Allen of Oceanside, CA and Karen (Jerry Zollman) Allen of Deputy, IN; grandchildren, Christopher D. Allen of Barstow, CA and Erica M. (John) Briggs of Oceanside, CA; great-grandchildren, Evan D. Briggs and Ella R. Briggs, both of Oceanside, CA; and sister-in-law, Elaine (Alfred) French of St. Berniece, IN.

Retta was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Walter R. Gilman and Robert Gilman.

A funeral service will be held on Friday June 27 at 12 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow a Hope Moravian Cemetery.
