Obituary

Rita D. Hull, 82, of Hope, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Born on August 26, 1943 in Shelbyville, Rita was the daughter of Russell and Jean Fisher Pettit. She married Thomas Hull on May 29, 1963, and he preceded her in death on July 31, 2025.

Rita was a member of First Baptist Church of Hope. She dedicated her life to taking care of her family and her home. She enjoyed baking and cooking. Her true passion was taking care of and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Holly (Eric) Elkins of Columbus, Sunny Hull of Hope, and J.T. (Jennifer) Hull of Hope; grandchildren, Elijah (Tana) Elkins of Virginia, Shemiah Elkins of Columbus, Kevin (Kylee) Hull of Hope, Staci Hull of Hope, Nate (Megan) Hull of Hope and Daegan (Britany) Hull of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Katie, Ellie and Isabelle Hull; and brother, Rusty (Patti) Pettit of Shelbyville.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers Gary Pettit and Ronnie Pettit; and sister, Betty Jean Pettit.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 16 at 11 a.m. at Norman Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hope Moravian Cemetery.
