Robert E. Smith, 81, of Greensburg, died Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Decatur County Memorial Hospital.

He was a farmer and worked for Fuller Farms in Shelbyville for 23 years.

Robert enjoyed yard work, camping, and spending time with his grandkids.

Born on April 21, 1936 in Rushville, Robert was the son of George "Smokey" and Alice Aldridge Smith. He married Nettie Jane Shepherdson on May 19, 1957 and she preceded him in death on November 18, 2009.

Survivors include children, Mark (Teresa) Smith of Waldron, Penny (Eric) Peterson of Rensselaer, Carolyn (Rooster) Combs of Greensburg, Donald (Susan) Smith of Shelbyville, and Ronald (Jennifer) Smith of Greensburg; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two sisters.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Curtis Lee Smith; two brothers; and four sisters.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Milford Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Riley's Hospital or American Cancer Society.
