Obituary

Roberta B. Keller, known to family and friends as "Bert", died on
Saturday January 18, 2014, from a stroke at Columbus Regional
Hospital.
Roberta was born on April 27, 1936 in Willowbranch, Indiana to
Robert and Amy Elmore. The oldest of 4 children, her siblings include
Charles Elmore and wife Karen of Columbus, Ohio, Joseph Elmore of
Seymour, Indiana, and Julia Blenkhorn of Summerset, Kentucky.
She graduated from the Wishard Hospital School of Nursing as a
Registered Nurse and worked as an operating room nurse for the majority of her career at the Columbus Regional Hospital. She later worked as a nurse for Dr. Daly Walker in his private practice, and then returned to the hospital before she retired. After retiring, she became a child advocate for CASA.
She met her sweetheart, Paul Keller, through her roommate in nursing school. The couple were married on November 2, 1958 at the Broadway Methodist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. Married for 55 years, Bert and Paul raised their 3 children, Steve, Linda and Paula in Columbus, Indiana. After raising their children, they also raised their nephew, Keith Keller, after the passing of his parents. The family also has an honorary daughter, Barbara Warner, who joined the Keller family when she was 14 years old.
In 1995, they built a house on Marr Road and Bert loved being able to
design the house the way she wanted it. She loved having family and friends out to the house and everyone knew when the grandchildren were home for Christmas; when they saw the combine running out in a snow covered field.
Possessing a true servant's heart, Bert faithfully cared for family and friends and was always willing to help and serve others. A woman of faith and the heart  of the Keller family, Bert shaped their spirituality by her tireless Christian example. Children had a special place in Bert's heart and she became a child advocate for CASA after she retired; working with various children and families in the community. They became a part of her family and each child was loved and special in her heart. Bert enjoyed to spend time with family and friends, garden, read, Bible study fellowship, pray, and play games/cards- especially with her grandchildren.
Survivors include, her husband L. Paul Keller; children Steve (Piper) Keller of Dallas, TX, Linda (Terry) DuVall of Dallas, TX, Paula (Bill) Compton of Columbus, IN, Keith and Whitney Compton of Franklin, IN and Barbara Warner of Columbus, IN; granchildren, Michele and Natalie Duvall, Sheridan and Reece Keller, Aaron Compton and Emily Fleetwood, Logan and Colton Keller; great grandchildren, Zoe Fleetwood and Isiah Rudicel; in- laws Omer and Bobbie Keller, Glen and Jane Keller, Mary Louise and Carlos Crain.
The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Hope Moravian Church.
Visitation will be thursday from 5 - 8 p.m. at the church and from 10 a.m. until service time on friday at the church. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Norman Funeral Home in Hope.      A luncheon reception for the family and close friends will be held
at the Hope Moravian Church immediately following the graveside
service. The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers,
and support in many heart-felt forms from too many people to name
individually.
Our love for you is not written on paper, for it can be erased. Nor is
our love for you etched in stone, for stone can be broken. But our love for
you is inscribed in our hearts, where it shall remain forever.
