Sandra Faye "Nanny" Howard, 71, of Columbus, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at her home.

Born on May 24, 1951 in Glasgow, Kentucky, Sandra was the daughter of Billy J. and Mattie Evelyn Bushong Erwin. She married Alvin E. "Shakey" Howard on September 23, 1977 and he preceded her in death on January 15, 2011.

Sandra was a homemaker and in her earlier years was employed as a cook at Gene's Cafeteria. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, cooking, doing puzzles, reading, antiquing, and going to garage sales.

Survivors include children, Tabitha A. Howard (Roger L. Miller) of Columbus and Johnny L. (Tracy R.) Howard of Columbus; grandchildren, Troy L. Howard, Connor D. Miller, Brandon L. Miller, and Andrew L. Purvis; siblings, Debra L. Scott of Indianapolis, Brenda G. (Ron) Edwards of Ogilville, and Gregory A. (Sherri) Erwin of North Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Shakey; brother, Jerry Erwin; and sister, Wanda Bates.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 28 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home. Following Sandra's wishes, cremation is planned following visitation.

Memorial contributions may be given to Norman Funeral Home to help defray funeral expenses.
