Sandra L. Smith, 80, of Hope passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at her home.

Born on July 24, 1943 in Columbus, Sandy was the daughter of Ferrel "Pete" and Lou Ella Palmer Foist. She married Larry Smith on June 15, 1993.

Sandy was employed at Cummins as a secretary and in electronic publishing for 23 years.

In previous years, she enjoyed cross stitching, bowling, and country line dancing. She enjoyed showing Boer goats and attending tractor shows and tractor pulls.

Survivors include her husband, Larry; children, Rick (Kim) Carpenter of Greensburg and Shannon (Harold Dye) Sterling of Elizabethown; step-children, Greg (Terralin) Smith of Columbus, Doug (Margie) Lawyer-Smith of Greenwood, and Nan (Robert Owens) Smith of Chicago; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Bev (Larry) Robertson of North Vernon and Connie (Mike) Marling of Seymour; and several nieces and nephews.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 9 at 2 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Cremation is planned following services.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hope Volunteer Fire Department.
