Grandma Sara E. Thompson of Columbus died Tuesday September 29, 2009 at 2:35 pm at Four Seasons Retirement Center.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Grammer Presbyterian Church, Rockcreek Extension Homemakers Club, the Foster Grandparent Program at Lincoln Elementary, the East Side Community Center and the Senior Center in Columbus.
She loved flowers and grew African Violets to sell.
The funeral will be at 10:30 am Saturday at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Rev. Mitchell J. Coggin officiating. Viewing will be Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorials may be donated to Four Seasons Retirement Center or Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Born on March 2, 1913 in Shelby County, Mrs. Thompson was the daughter of Arthur and Luella Anderson Trimble. She married George M. Thompson November of 1934. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1984.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha E. Hukill of North Vernon; a son, George "Moe" (Linda) Thompson of Columbus; grandchildren, Kimberly (Gary) Bruner of Columbus, Kristie (Brad) Turnbow of Columbus, David Wayne Hukill of Colorado Springs, Co., Connie Sue Littlejohn of Nashville, IN, and Cathy Jo (Robert) Brown of Seymour; step grandchildren, Jeff Brown and Peggy(Chris) Olmstead of Columbus and Lisa (Matt) Lee of Grammer; great grandchildren, Quentin, Ashley and MacKenzie Bruner of Columbus, Max Turnbow of Columbus, George Hukill of North Vernon, Ashley Hukill of Atlanta, Ga., Josh Hukill of Colorado Springs, Co., Patrick and Christopher Littlejohn of Nashville, IN and Tyler and Zach Brown of Seymour and two great great grandchildren.
Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Elizabeth Galbraith, a brother, Charles Trimble and a great great granddaughter, Amber Brooke Hukill.
