Stanley L. Kanouse, 75, of Edinburgh, lost his battle with Alzheimer's on Monday evening, March 13th, 2017 at Franklin Meadows. He was born on April 11th, 1941 in St. Paul, Indiana to Lewis Kanouse and Ethel (Gay) Kanouse. He graduated from St. Paul High School in 1959.



Stanley met his wife Margaret (Andrews) Kanouse through a mutual friend. They were married on February 24th, 1973 and enjoyed 44 years together. Stanley was a proud employee of Ford Motor Company, in Indianapolis, Indiana for 30 years. He retired in 1990. After retirement, he worked part-time at the Edinburgh Shell gas station.



In his spare time, Stanley enjoyed fishing, old cars and old music "50's and 60's". He had a special love for all animals.



Stanley was a long-time member of the Mt. Auburn Christian Church where he served as a deacon.



Left behind to cherish many memories are his wife, sons, Richard (Diane) Kanouse of Connersville; Shawn Shafer of Hope; Vaughn (Lori) Shafer of El Jebel, Colorado; daughters, Tammy (David) Roberts of Connersville; Dawn (Gavin) AmRhein of Flat Rock; Devona (Jerry Wright) Tedrow Edinburgh; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Eddie (Debbie) Kanouse, Susie (Charlie) Wilkerson, Sherry Goodrich, and Andrea Arterburn.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents.



The family is deeply grateful to the staff at Franklin Meadows Nursing in Franklin Indiana, for the wonderful care they gave Stanley.



The funeral will be at Norman Funeral Home, 604 Main St, in Hope, IN on Friday, March 17th, 2017 at 11 a.m., with Brian Scott officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 16th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior the service on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Paul Hill Cemetery in St. Paul.
