Stephen L. Gabbard, 63 of Taylorsville passed away Saturday May 30, 2009 at 11:30 pm at Hospice of South Central IN.
He had been employed at Sonoco Flexible Packaging in Edinburgh for over 30 years.
He was a member of Old Union Church of Christ and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was an IU fan, collected baseball cards,
coached softball, played basketball and like to bowl.
The funeral will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00 pm at Old Union Church of Christ with Pastor Kirby Rupp officiating. Calling will be Tuesday from 4:00-8:00 at the church and from noon until service time on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites.

Born on January 24, 1946 in Washington County, Mr. Gabbard was the son of Hiram and Carmen Swinford Gabbard. He married Darlene K. Romine July 2, 1966 in Burney, IN and she survives.
Other survivors include children Stephanie (Everett) McCormick of Edinburgh, Barbara (Jim) Kennedy of Elizabethtown, Amy (Scott) Miller of Taylorsville, Stephen C. (Lynsie) Gabbard of Franklin and Camala Bunger of Taylorsville; brothers, Tim Gabbard of Edinburgh and Pete Gabbard of Little Rock, AR; sisters, Lois Wade of Westport and Karen Sneed, Joan Grow and Candy Campbell all of Edinburgh; six grandchildren and one great grandson.
Mr. Gabbard was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Leah Weddle and Debbie Anderson and brother, Jack Gabbard.
