Rev. Steven W. Workman, 48 of Macomb, Il passed away at 2:25 a.m. Wednesday March 23 2011 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Il.
He was born September 4, 1962 in Greensburg, In to Cecil and MaryAnn Israel Workman. He married Connie L. Ortman on July 11, 1987 and she survives.
Also surviving are his father Cecil (Linda) Workman of Columbus; a daughter Natalie Workman of Macomb, Il ; a sister Paula Workman of Brownstown; his father and mother in law Eldon and Margene Ortman of West Lafayette, and several aunts , uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother MaryAnn Workman, a sister Susan Workman and his grandparents.
He received his BA in Musice Education from Ball State University in 1987, his MA in Christian Education from Christian Theological Seminary and his Masters of Divinity f rom Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO.
He began ministry as a teen and worked for the Hope Moravian Church and the First Baptist Church both in Hope. Rev Workman had been a music teacher at South Decatur High School. He was most recently had been Senior Pastor at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Malcomb, IL.
Steve enjoyed reading, eBay, antiquing, playing piano , singing and quilting. Steve's greatest passion in life was his love of God,family, and friends. His ministry extended beyond the church as he touched lives wherever he went.
Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Hope Moravian Church with Rev's Beth Rupe and Linda Hunsaker officiating. Visitaiton will be at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. untill service time. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church in Malcomb or the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Illinois and Wisconsin regional office in
Bloomington, IL. or thru Norman Funeral Home in Hope.
