Velva L. Williams, 95 of Lafayette, formerly of the Hope area passed
away Sunday March 4, 2012 at home.
She retired in March of 1981from Cummins Engine Company after 31 years.
She was a member of St. Louis Crossing Baptist Church and a member of CREAK
Club for Cummins employees.
She loved gardening and canning.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 pm at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with
Rev. Marvin Arnett officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until service time on
Saturday. Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery, west of Clifford.
Memorial contributions may be donated to Guardian Angel Hospice in Lafayette

Born March 13, 1916 in Monticello, Ky, Mrs. Williams was the daughter of
Benjamin and Elizabeth Koger Steele. She married Roy L. Williams February 29, 1936
in Monticello, Ky and he preceded her in death May 10, 2008.
Survivors include granddaughters, Luanna Barker and Melissa (Geoff) Walker both
of Lafayette; great grandsons, Drew (Lindsay) Barker and Brandon Barker both of Hope,
and Luke, Sam and Max Walker all of Lafayette and sisters, Antha Lutterman of New Castle
and Helen Gasaway of Henderson, TX
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; daughter, Donna Faye Barker;
grandson, Chris Barker and sisters, Zelpha Antons and Elsie Dobbs.
