Viola Marie Blackburn, 96, of Hope died at 6:56 a.m. Saturday January 8, 2011 at Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Mrs. Blackburn was a member of the Newbern United Methodist Church where she had taught sunday school for several years. She had worked as a secretary
for Golden Foundry and was also a housewife.
The funeral will conducted at 11: 00 a.m. Tuesday at Norman Funeral Home in Hope. Calling will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m.
until service time. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Newbern United Methodist Church or Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Born in Hartsville on July 13, 1914, Mrs, Blackburn was the daughter of Ray and Elodie Scott Jordan. She married Byron J Blackburn on March 15, 1941. He preceded in death on May 5, 1974.
Survivors include a son Danny Blackburn of North Vernon; a daughter Paula (Don) Sturgeon of Hope; grandchildren Charles (Cheryl) Blackburn of Florida, Scott Blackburn of Hope, Edward ( Kimra) Sturgeon of Martinsville and Anna (Jack) Hilycord of Columbus and seven great grandchidlren.
Mrs Blackburn was preceded in death by her husband, a infant daughter Wanda Kay Blackburn; a sister Mildred Jordan; brothers Oril "Bill", Harold, Lynn and Maurice Jordan and nephews Larry Jordan and Melvin Blackburn.
