Virginia Harlow Smither, 94 of Columbus died Wednesday May 6, 2009 at 2:55 pm at Columbus Regional Hospital. The funeral will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 at Norman Funeral Home in Hope. Calling will be from noon until service time. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorials may be donated to a college fund for Mrs. Smither's great grandchildren in C/O David Harlow. Online condolences may be sent to the Smither family at www.normanfuneralhome.net. Born on January 27, 1915 in Henry Co., Ky., Mrs. Smither was the daughter of Henry and Nannie Florence Nelson. She first married Gilbert Harlow in 1932 and he died in 1974. She then married Raymond Smither in 1978 and he died in 1987. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, travel, watch golf and do word search puzzles. Survivors include a son, David R.(Kay) Harlow of Taylorsville;grandchildren, Teresa (Scott) Ritter and Sheila (Larry) Sweet of Columbus and David Scott Harlow of Taylorsville; great grandchildren, Adora Rose Sweet, and Aliah Breanne and Callie Danielle Ritter all of Columbus. She was preceded in death by a son, Gilbert Harlow Jr.; a daughter, Betty Jean Harlow and several brothers and sisters.
