William Larue Harmon, 91 passed away March 12, 2023 at Major Hospital in Shelbyville.

Born February 20, 1932 in Nesopeck, PA, he was born to Helen Harmon Pell.  He was adopted and raised by his grandparents Harry and Eva Diettrich Harmon.

William was a member of the National Guard and then the U.S. Army.

He was employed by the San Diego Police Department.  He worked as border patrol at the Mexico/California border.  He was a customs inspector in California, Washington and Calvary, Canada.  He taught firearm classes to students coming into government jobs.

William lived much of his life in California.  He moved to Florida when he retired and then to Oregon, Ohio.

He was a musician and a pilot.  He enjoyed building clocks, golfing, dancing, and collecting trains.

William was the father of five children and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He had a loving companion for many years, Margaret A. Connolly who preceded him in death.  William is also preceded in death by half-brothers, Thomas M. Pell and John W. Pell; his grandparents and two children.

Cremation is planned.  There will be a private graveside service in Nesopeck, PA at a later date.  Arrangements were entrusted to Norman Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be donated to American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association or Alzheimers Foundation.
